- Comprehensive Exams
When it comes to your dental health, we want the full picture. We’ll be sure to examine not just your oral hygiene, but your overall wellness. Of course we’ll check for tooth decay and gum disease, but we’ll also ask about other health issues and medications you may be taking. At Eastern Shore Dental Care, you’re more than just a pretty smile.
- Oral Cancer Screenings
At Eastern Shore Dental Care, we’re here to do more than tell you to brush and floss twice a day and come back in six months. As part of your exam, our highly-trained staff will do a visual and hands-on check for signs of oral cancer. These signs may include unusual and unexplained swelling, spots, bleeding, numbness, sores, or pain. We want to catch potential problems early when they’re easier to treat so we can keep you smiling for years to come.
X-rays are a necessary part of comprehensive dental care. At Eastern Shore Dental Care, we use digital x-rays to get a good look at your teeth while exposing you to less radiation than traditional x-rays. Best of all, we don’t have to wait for the digital images to develop. They’re available in seconds. We can also enlarge the images, making it easier for us to show you any issues we see. We also have a panoramic x-ray system that allows us to get the full picture of your dental health.
We work hand-in-hand with our patients to ensure good dental hygiene. At home, you’re responsible for your brush and floss routine. Here in the office, we use sonic technology that deep cleans your teeth using sound waves and high-speed tool rotations to remove debris and stains to keep your mouth sparkling clean.
- Gum Disease Therapy
If you’re experiencing swollen, painful or bleeding gums, shifting or loose teeth, or severe bad breath, you may be suffering from gum disease, caused by bacteria lurking below the gumline. It’s best to treat these symptoms early before more severe problems arise.
At Eastern Shore Dental Care, we recommend a treatment plan that includes deep cleaning of the teeth and gums. We sometimes combine deep cleaning with Arestin, an antibiotic, which we place under your gumline. Whenever necessary, this two-pronged treatment plan is the most effective way to attack periodontal disease and restore your dental health.
Do you find yourself waking up with a dull headache? Are you experiencing unexplained soreness in your jaw? Have you noticed broken, loose, or painful teeth? If so, you may be suffering from bruxism, or as it’s more commonly known, grinding your teeth. Stress or a sleeping disorder may cause you to grind your teeth, or it could be a symptom of missing teeth or a bite that’s out of alignment. While we work to get to the bottom of the problem, the professionals at Eastern Shore Dental Care can preserve your dental health by fitting you with a custom mouthguard to wear at night. You’ll sleep easier knowing your teeth are protected.
- Sleep Apnea
Sleep apnea occurs when your breathing is disrupted while you’re asleep. It may leave you feeling foggy and tired during the day, but if left untreated, it can lead to health problems including high blood pressure, heart failure, or stroke. We can help you get the sleep you need using the TAP 3 Elite. The TAP 3 Elite is similar to a mouthguard. Custom-fit pieces snap over your upper and lower teeth, positioning the jaw to keep your throat open and prevent snoring and sleep apnea. At Eastern Shore Dental Care, we want you to rest easy.
At Eastern Shore Dental Care, your comfort is no laughing matter, but if you need a little help to calm down while we work, we do offer nitrous oxide. Commonly known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is inhaled through a small mask that goes over your nose. The nitrous oxide takes effect in just a few moments, leaving you awake and responsive, but relaxed. The effects wear off quickly once we remove the mask, allowing you to resume your day.
- Emergency Care
No matter how conscientious you are about your oral health, things pop up. Emergencies happen. But don’t worry, the dedicated staff at Eastern Shore Dental Care is here. We offer same-day or next-day appointments for your emergency dental needs.
